Workplace massages 'reduce stress and injury risk'

Employers are beginning to introduce onsite massage in an effort to reduce the stress of staff, including those in business development jobs, it has been claimed.

Karl Monahan, the On Site Massage Company's business development manager, suggests companies are beginning to explore this approach as a way of increasing the health and wellbeing of their workers.

"People are now realising the full benefits of massage as part of their working environment," he claims.

He says workers who are not stressed work harder and are happier, making them a lot more productive.

People in business development jobs undergoing between ten and twenty minutes of massage in the office will have a considerably lower level of stress and will be less susceptible to repetitive strain injury and related ailments, Mr Monahan claims.

He states: "The attitude towards massage has changed … people are realising the actual benefits of it."

According to the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development's yearly Absence Management study, an average of 7.4 days a year are spent on sick leave by private sector workers.
