Companies 'tool up' through retraining
Retraining employees for sales jobs allows businesses to be "tooled up" for new challenges, an expert claims.
Anjula Mutanda, a psychology consultant and life coach, describes the process as re-skilling and states this is always a "benefit" for companies.
Describing a workforce which has undergone the process, such as a sales team, as "ready to go", she claims retraining employees will prepare them for any emerging challenges.
"People do need a portfolio of skills because that's the way the job market is," she suggests.
Talking about benefits for workers, Ms Mutanda identifies the need for people to "take control" over their skills development so they are prepared for any challenges they might later face.
She also says it gives the opportunity to meet new people and build connections which might help your career progress further down the line.
Networking will help a transition into alternative lines of work, she claims.
Recent research by the Learning and Skills Council found over four-fifths of people felt more confident having learnt a new skill.
