Sales recruitment personnel warned over CVs
A legal expert warns anyone dealing with staffing such as sales recruitment personnel to be alert for bogus CVs, a source says.
Jane Liddington, an employment judge, tells Personnel Today there will likely be a rise in the number of people from minorities applying for jobs with one CV revealing this fact and another concealing it.
If the second CV is accepted by sales recruitment staff while the first is rejected, she claims the company can be taken to a tribunal for discrimination.
She told the website : "With less jobs available but more people looking and being more aware of their rights, it's a combination for a perfect storm."
If the CV containing an applicant's minority status is rejected, an employment tribunal may award six months' wages in compensation for work lost.
The website recommends employees with the potential to encounter this situation, such as sales recruitment workers, ought to use application forms to differentiate between candidates, as well as recording the reasons for a candidate's rejection.
Earlier this month, research undertaken by KPMG found a sharp decline in the number of jobs available as well as an increase in the number of people looking for work.
