Managers 'can't let go of their business on holiday'
Some 85 per cent of managers and executives admit that they check their work email while they are away on holiday, a new survey has revealed.
Onrec.com reported that of these people, 79 per cent check their business email while on holiday, according to a survey from Peninsula.
It is common knowledge that people's work life is busier than ever and this survey highlights the sizeable role that work plays in our lives," said Peter Done, managing director at Peninsula.
"However, holiday entitlements are there for a reason and employees should be using this time to relax and recharge themselves," he added.
Mr Done explained that employers should not expect that staff members - including those who work in sales jobs or sales recruitment - to make contact on holiday, but should choose instead to have a meeting before the staff member leaves.
A survey conducted by Clydesdale Bank revealed that workers in Scotland are among the happiest in the UK - which may be partially because of the large number of workers who take holidays each year.
The study found that 23 per cent of workers in Scotland take more than 30 days off every year.
